Design concept of hot runner system

Hot runner is a way to ensure that the plastic in runner and gate remains molten by heating. Hot runner system is generally composed of hot nozzle, distributor, temperature control box and accessories. There are two kinds of hot nozzles: open hot nozzle and needle valve hot nozzle.

Hot runner system is a kind of complex and superior die part. In the mold production project, CAE computer aided engineering analysis, resin test and design concept can be completed by hot runner system supplier. In the early stage of a project, if the hot runner suppliers participate in the work together, then the mold designers can further optimize the product.

The manifold is used to ensure that the solution channels can be arranged in an efficient way. In the ideal case, the solution channel is designed symmetrically, and the flow length and turning number of all downcomers are consistent. In the case of multi cavity or asymmetric molds, the solution channel may include an artificial length and turning point so that the system can be properly balanced. This concept is helpful to both mold designers and hot runner designers, and can ensure better manifold design.

In addition, the pressing plate technology should be adopted to ensure that the closing height and key features required by customers can be designed. Since the hot runner nozzle is included in the nozzle, the mold designer should also confirm whether the injection port approach and cooling can meet the requirements of the hot runner manufacturer.
